I was replacing the water pump, on 1995 225, when after removing the pump & filler block I noticed a small section of the lower unit housing, under the lower pump gasket, (Small hole gasket) in front of the filler block, had corroded away. The damaged section is on the port side about 1/2" from the corner. the damage is aprox. 1/4" half circle. how do I fix this, epoxy? Marine Tex? New lower unit housing? Do I fix it? will exhaust get in water pump? or will filler block prevent this. Thanks, Joe

Re: Housing Under Water Pump

Thought about this all night, is this a seperator, as I suspect it is, because the water pump gasket runs right on it across the with of the lower unit. Does someone make a sleeve, sort of a U shaped aluminium piece to slide over this damaged section so the gasket will seal, or is this something I will have to fabricate myself. Thanks, Joe
