Houston Area Offshore Fishing

I live in Houston, near Galveston. Looking for a general education on fishing offshore of Galveston. Where to go? What to use? I would guess offshore is much different than fishing in the bays and wade fishing....

Teach me fishing masters....

What kind of offshore fishing do you want to do? Trolling for Kings, Wahoo, Dolphin and the like? Bottom fishing for Grouper, Snapper, Amberjacks and so forth?

Trolling is easy, just sit back and wait for the fish to hit, bottom fishing is a lot of hard work.
