We all do have some idea of what the price of gasoline is in our area and in various parts of our planet, however i'm curious to know what the price of electricity is in your respective areas, here where i live in north Texas my electricity supplier TXU charges me $0.15 per a kilowatt hour.
What do you pay in your area?

It will take me a while to figure it out :) BUT the fuel surcharge has become as big as the bill now

Somehow this lets them claim there is no rate increase :'(

Re: How badly are you being zapped?

I don.t know what my breakdown is, but I do know I pay about $35.00 a month in the summer, and about $130 a month in the winter, and there is usually one winter month that spikes to $200 or so. I am going to try to find some cheap wood for this winter, but as it stands, the cost of wood and the pain-in-the-butt factor of wood means that the electric heat ends up being the better deal. I am working on a deal to get about 7 cords for $250. If I can't get a deal like that, it isn't worth it to use wood.

We have something called Niagara falls in NY. That means no fuel surcharge. In fact the delivery charge is higher than the cost of the electricity.

Latest bill--
Dist chg --- $12.12

Energy --- $0.0359/KWH
PSCR Chg --$0.01245/ KWH

Looks pretty reasonable to me. We have a hydro generator channel from water going from Lake Superior into Lake Huron just down the street, so as long as it rains I guess we are ok.

Re: How badly are you being zapped?

Vlad, everyone around here had been screaming about their electric bills. Last month ours jumped $100 from the month before to $306, the highest bill ever. My neighbors was $476, our daughters was $600 and I have a friend who had a $900 bill. :/

We installed solar screens and recaulked every window in the house. This is the first full month on the electric bill and it was $247. I would hate to see what it would have been without the screens and caulk.

Re: How badly are you being zapped?

Wow I guess that I can’t complain about my highest bill of $175.00 this summer after seeing some of the ones here.

This house is rather well insulated and has six inches walls. The pool pump has been running all summer so that is why the bill is this high, plus spend a great deal of time out of the house in the summer. In wintertime it has been running about $100.00 but with the rate increase will most likely be a bit more.

If it gets too bad I think I will get serious about getting one of these units, I have ten acres of hardwood, hickory and oak, that needs to be thinned out.

$0.062/kwh including fuel cost adj.

1411 kwh cost me $85.30. Including taxes, $98.70 last month.

We have a couple of nuke stations nearby and the power companies tried to get an added tax for tearing them down when their license ran out. Nice try, though!
