I have a 14 1/2' semi v hull and wondered if the 30 lb minnekota would do me just fine.

I've been used an old Shakespeare model (relic) last summer and it got me around okay (barely), but it was a hand me down model and I'm ready to buy new.

I'm using it basically to troll around from hole to hole and to keep myself from getting blown into the bank/weeds on those windier days.

Thanks!

Just my opinion, but a 30# motor on that boat will not overcome a strong wind. It should be just fine when it's calm. :)

I have a 28lb minnekota on my 14 ft aluminum boat. It does ok except in windy conditons when you need to run it full out.

Generally, it's fine for put-putting around. ;)
