How Can i identify the year of my Evinrude Motor

Can anyone tell me the year of my Evinrude Model Number 40973R I would really appreciate it. and if anyone has a suggestion on how i can identify the year of my Lone Star Carefreedom boat by the serial number 54311207 that would be great! Thanks so much

MM, if you can find the HIN#(hull id) it will have two digits somewhere that will correspond with the year. If the boat is the same year as the motor it may not have a HIN. There are a couple of people here with Lone Star boats that might be able to help. Chief
