Hi,

buying some gaskets and pistons for an engine I am rebuilding.
Just wondering if there is a way I can tell if the engine is a xflow or looper type?

There appears to be a double carb on it, but I might be mistaken? One Carburettor on top of the other, not sure if this is normal, but this would indicate to me that this is the Cross Flow feature, is this correct???

Anyone able to help, wanna be sure before I buy, got some really good deals on parts, for both types, but for some reason can't seem to find Carb Gasket kits, might try Crowley marine for those.

Thanks,

Se?n.

cross flow has 2 alum body carbs, looper has 4 plasic body carbs, you can also go to the Bombardier (BRP)website and compare the different engines.Bombardier took over OMC,years back.

All years may not use the same pistons. Be careful buying internal hard parts.

All crossflow blocks have covers bolted over the intake ports on the side of each cylinder.

It's a cross flow so. Has everything described in this thread. But I am going to confirm first, I found a Marine Mech in Dublin that deals specifically with Johnson Engines... old boy, but?really knows his stuff.

Thanks guys.
