Hey guys,
I had to swap the stator on my merc, it was shortened somewhere inside.
The engine is running fine now, but the bad thing is, I can not charge anymore. I converted the merc from handstart do e start (made a toothed wheel out of the original flywheel and bought a e start)
To charge battery I used a "light coil" from a 15hp and mounted that to the back side. but now the stator sparepart I got is ways bigger than the original. Original was 2 small coils, lets say about 4 inches long and the NEW part (76314A3) covers the whole space beyond the flywheel. No space for my light coil.
My question is, can I steal a little current from the stator to charge a little? 2 amps would be enough. Maybe this is possible since the new stator has a lot of coils inside (the same wires like the old one though)
Actually I have to charge battery at the harbour
My engine is 1979 or 1980, not exactly known.
I will also investigate a little if theres is a good idea arround
Thanks for you help,
Andy
