I have a 15 foot 1975 Newman with a Mercury 850 with Mercruiser controls. The boat pulls to the right---- hard --and I asssume the stearing cables are out of whack.

How do I adjust them?

did the boat steer fine before or it new to you? first check the trim tab on the motor, that it looks straight. it may need to be adjusted to the right, if your the only person in the boat and steering is on the right, it will do this, unless you shift your weight to the middle. you can adjust cables where the connect at transom after connection to motor. loosen clamp screws on cable and make equal tension on both sides. you want tension on motor and no slack or it will be sloppy. i've given up on mine and am going to replace with rack and pinion. works much better
