how do i change oil on v.penta aq170a?

Also what type of oil ? took off oil filter to change and oil starting spewing out ...yes im still new at all this...any help would be appreciated thx

You need to come up with some kind of container to catch the oil in that would also be easy to get out of the bilge when its full of oil. Either that, or you need to purchase a suction pump specifically made to pull oil through the dipstick tube. They are available here at Iboats or most other marine stores.

The oil spill from the filter being spun of is inevitable. Try to catch it with a container of some kind. Shouldn't be too much oil spilling.

Personally for oil I use either strait 30 or 40 weight detergent oil (do not use non-detergent!). Any brand should do.

thanks alot for the info, so i can drain all the oil from where the oil filter is at?

No, that will only get the oil out of the filter. You need to suck the oil out of the oil pan through the dipstick tube. There are all sorts of electric and vacuum pump and hand pumps on the market, just for that purpose.
