how do i clean risers on a 1997 454 mercrusier

took manifolds off totally shot but risers seem <br />fine. how do i clean them ....

If they are "cleanable" (and sometimes they are beyond salvage) then I have had success with pouring muratic acid down the passages and letting it set for awhile. <br />Disclaimer: This has worked for me - but you need to be very careful! Even the fumes can about knock you out!

best to chunk-em and buy new ones.<br /> if they fail they will fill your baby with seawater and more than likely cause a catastrophic engine failure. and you still will need new risers. do it once do it right and enjoy the boat<br /> good luck and keep posting

thats what i kinda figured. where do you get muratic acid from..... another question what is vapor lock and how do i know i have it.....
