I have a 91 evinrude 40hp and my fuel pressure is low. I think its my fuel pump. I can pump up the ball and it runs great! (as im running along) It only acts up at mid to full throttle. I rebuilt the carbs and it helped but it is still running out of gas. It takes off and about 15 sec later it dies down and then picks up and so on... I replaced the fuel filter and cleaned out all the lines so i know everything it flowing well. My oil injection system is blocked off properly. I need to replace the fuel pump but dont want to buy the oil injection one. I just want simple and cheaper. What do i need?

Hi, Bob

The commercial and "Special" models of Johnson did not have VRO.

Ask your dealer for a fuel pump for the commercial, or "special" model.

It should fit with no problem.

Good luck. :)

Try OMC #433388 fuel pump assembly. This is used on a 1990 45/55 commercial models. One note... when you install this pump you will need to remove the plug (screw) in the pulse port on the starter side of the block. Once you do this this pump should mount right up to the existing mounting bosses. Conversly, you'll also want to plug the pulse line currently going to your VRO pump.
I did this a few years ago on my '89 40hp Evinrude and it worked great. It also cleaned up the ugly birds nest of the VRO and its various unneccesary junk and plumbing. VRO=

I hope this helps.

MG
