how do i get a part number?

i have a 1986 mercury 115 hp L6. how do i get the part number for the stator with out taking it all apart? i'd rather order one then remove and replace at the same time.

Phone your nearest mercury dealer with the serial number and they will be able to give you the part number for the stator and be able to order it in for you.

The part number should be 398-5454A17 but again check with the merc dealer as it may have superseded.

You can get on dougrussell.com or crowleymarine.com and look it up yourself. You can then Xref it to a CDI part.
