how do I get the lower unit off

trying to change water pump pepeller how do i get the unit apart....is there any linkedge i have to unhook help its a 1964 merc. 65 hp 4 cyl

remove the 4 bolts or so holding the lower unit on. then it should slide apart easily. it might get stuck because of the exhaust chamber that gets caught on the rubber gasket. good luck. <br /><br />as far as i know there is no linkage/.
