Are your toons painted white (or epoxy coated)? The pic makes them look so. (The handprint looks like its painted also, instead of grease.) If not, and you use Scotchtbright, the aluminum may look 'buffed' differently than the rest of the toon. People have had good luck with Magic Erasers.

Wait a minute! That's a genuine Alumindian Metroglyph! Don't remove it, preserve it! Contact your local historical society! It looks like the Alumindian tribe has migrated into your area, and they're marking their territory!

How did that print get on your tube to begin with?

Spray it with carb cleaner and wipe it off with a rag. If you use any abrasive pads(like Scotchbrite), where you clean it will look "shiny" and stand out from the rest of the toon....I have an unpainted aluminum canoe and have tried all kinds of stuff to clean it.

Way to go Bob. Now the AMPC will see this and cite him for attempting to deface a marianthropological "treasure". Some times I wonder where your head is.

As Robert said, try everything else before you go with anything abrasive, any kind of sand paper, steel wool, Scotch Brite ect will make the metal in that spot really shiny and I think you would welcome the hand print back, once you disturb the mill finish there is no going back.

It is paint, something will take it off.

Some sort of acid should make it re-oxidize after you are done. Maybe muratic acid will?

....I think it's time to bring in a local Wizard, 'cause it's gonna take magic to get that off!

...or, you could add to it, put the same thing on the other side and that will be your boat's logo....:)

Re: how do i get this off my toon?

Acid based cleaners always leave a cloudy oxidation on the toons. If you then go after the toons with aluminum polish, you could have'em looking better than new. It often takes lacquer cleaner, elbow grease and a bunch of rags to get the black oxidation off during/after polishing.

Then, wipe it down with Sharkhide protectant to maintain that mirror shine.

My new Bennington didn't take a month until the toons were tarnishing. I plan on polishing and Sharkhiding them when I pull it for the 20 hour oil change.
