hello, i guess i didnt think too far ahead when i decided to drill the holes for my pedistal seat mount. The problem i have is the holes are drilled and stainless "t" nuts are under the newly installed deck. This should be good except i still need to glass the deck surface and didnt think ahead on how i would cover the holes during this process. i was wondering if i put some small duct tape circles over the holes and glass over them then drill out the glass to the tape to expose the nuts again would work. i think i would still be able to see the tape when the resin cures but not sure. any input would be great, im open to other options, i reallly hope i didnt screw this up!

take a bolt that fits the threads.....soak it in PVA. insert bolt into hole......glass away.

wait till you are totally done........remove bolt.

cheers

ummmmm, forgive my ignorance, whats PVA? and by the way, i've been to the point of giving this money pit away more than once throughout this project:eek:. But seriously, i was hoping to leave the deck flush with no protrusions to make the final glassing easier on me, if i cant do that then so be it i guess.

poly vinyl acetate.. used to prevent the bolt from sticking

yes..^^^^^^^.its a really waxy liquid....its used a s a mold release agent.

if you cant find it.....take car wax and wax each bolt about 5 times....it will do the same.

you just want to wax the bolt here so the poly resin does not stick to the bolt

just dry fit the glass....over the open holes....and cut around the bolt holes. ...when you are glassing.....just use a bondo spreader around the bolts....that area will be a bit tougher to glass...but not much

If you use a long shank bolt (with threads only on the end) it works better. The glass gets in the threads worst. You can wax the shank better since it's nice and smooth and it's just a bit larger than the thread diameter. I've done this several times...works fine.
