I have this lower unit laying around with a brass prop. now this unit I know is larger than the 20 and 25s I have. But how can I ID it to find out exactly what it's for. Believed to be Johnson/Evinrude.

Give us some numbers off that prop.

If that gearcase is identical except for size, then I'd bet it's from a 25-35Hp. There would also be a bolt hole at the back that the 18-25 gearcase wouldn't have. Those were used on mid 50s thru 60s Johnsons, Evinrudes, and Gales including 25s, 28s, 30s, 33s, and 35s. I think Gale also used it on their 40.
