I just got a 1976 Bayliner Skagit Offshore with a VP 280 outdrive and where another engine was installed. I understand that many times the engine number is on the intake manifold but this engine has an Eidelbrock manifold. Where can I find a number which will tell me what year 350 it is and then I can find the HP and what parts to get when I need them.

What parts are you looking to purchase? Most small block chevy stuff will interchange, yeah there's stuff that wont depending on year. For stuff that there may be a question about, things like points or plugs just take the old stuff with you when purchasing replacements.

Ayuh,.... What parts,..??

You've probably got a 305, or a 350,...
If you need internal block parts, you'll know what ya need, at tear-down....
The casting #s Don mentions will tell ya Which 1 ya got...

If you need ANY parts that are bolted To the block,...
I imagine you'll be needin' parts for whatever Volvo systems were used even if the motor/ intake was swapped....
