Quick and dirty way is to pop the knob off and unscrew the needle assy from the carburetor, leaving the other end in the control panel.

If you want to do it the other way, pop the knob off, and remove the circlip that is around the needle cable on the inside of the control panel. With that circlip off, you can slide the needle cable forward and remove the circlip that is around it on the outside of the control panel. Then you can slide the needle cable rearward, out of the control panel.

Thank you for your reply.. Got that part off and unscrewed from the carb..

I now know why I had no control over the rich/lean adjustments, When I pulled the knob off the control panel, The thing was frozen solid and only the knob would turn but was not turning the needle at all, So I cleaned that up and it moves freely now.

Another thing I noticed is when I seperated the bowl from the carb, The pointy thing that controls the fuel flow had no spring/clip holding it to the float.. Should this carb not have that? I would think it should but I am new to this carb so not sure..

I am going to disconnect the linkage/plastic parts that is on the carb and let it soak for a day.. I do not have the special tool to get the orfice out that is behind the drain plug on the bowl and don't want to damage trying to get it out, Is this important to take out or will soaking it and then blowing compressed air in there do the trick?

Thank you..

There are two types of float needles. The all metal one does not have a clip, the one with a soft tip does need the clip. In addition, the one that uses a clip has a groove for it, the other one does not.

It is very important that the high speed orifice plug be absolutely clean. If you can get it clean without removing it, that should suffice. It's just kind of hard to tell without taking it out so you can see. DO NOT jam wires, drills, or whatever through it. It is a precision part.

Ok,

The float needle that was in there has a soft tip and a groove for the clip so I am going to assume it should have been there I will use it if it comes in carb kit I ordered and if not well I guess I wont use one.. I am going to dusky this afternoon to pick up some parts I ordered maybe they will take out that orfice in the bowl for me or I could probably get the tool to do so there.. either way I will try to get it out and make sure it is clean..

Thank you very much for your replies, Much appreciated

Thanks again,

Ant...

I have heard the originals did not have a clip. Your new kit will have one and you should use it. Rick.
