How do I use tilt/trim?

Hello. I have a question about the propper way to use tilt&trim. I have a 1970 KONA fiberglass 18' boat. It is low profile but the bottom isn't actually a flat bottom and have an evinrude 125 v4. I have a CMC Tilt&Trim. I never have a problem getting on plane with this boat. It always goes on plane about 18-20mph. my question is how do I set the tilt and trim. I was told to get going full throttle and trim up untill the boat stops porposing (bouncing up and down) but it never does that. Should I just keep trimming up untill the prop stops biteing the water?

Trim down until you get on-plane. Then "bump" the trim switch while watching the tach and bow of the boat. Each bump should produce an ever so slight bow rise. At some point the boats attitude hits a sweet spot where it suddenly feels like it "frees up" and you pick up from 2-4 MPH with an associated rise in tach RPM. You can feel the sweet spot when it happens, and the sound of the engine also lets you know. Trim too high though, the prop loses bite, RPMs flair, and speed drops. Trim setting will change with load and water conditions.

Thanks, Upinsmoke, So, I'll trim up untill the prop looses bite and the rps go eratic, then trim down to the highest speed spot.<br />Thanks! :)
