anyone know how i check the oil level in the outdrive on a 1979 boat...i think its like a alpha outdrive, the motor is a mercruiser 470...i see one screw head about the size of a nickel that says oil vent???????
on the upper unit, port side, marked "vent" .remove plug and oil should be to the thread level or within a 1/2 inch down.if you cant see it, use something flexible in the hole to see how low it is.
