How do you determine what holes you mount the motor own

I know there is a method to determine what holes you mount the motor on. (height)of the mounting holes is what im speaking of. I was told if i raised it i would pick up more speed. its a 21 ft alum.starcraft with a 150 merc. efi. thanks for any help.

Start with the caviation plate even with the bottom of the hull. If the motor doesn't cavitate, you could try one hole higher and again check for cavitation.

large HORIZONTAL cast plate blended into the engine leg just above the prop........

When you say bottom of the boat are you speaking of the bottom at the middle of the boat or at the sides of the boat?

In the center of the hull, directly ahead of the motor.
