How do you get a replacement US Coast Guard MAXIMUM CAPACITIES label if you don't have one for your boat or its just getting too darn hard to read. I can actually see mine but I would like to restore the boat and replace the old one. Suggestions? I have a US Coast Guard station about 20 miles away and we have a Coast Guard Auxiliary group near by as well. DSC_9438.jpg

That's not actually issued by the coast guard. It's produced by the manufacturer of the boat. Contact them for a replacement.

The one you have is adequate. You can read it...... spray it with some clear paint

You can have it reproduced by a decent silk screen company. The new ones are vinyl. I went through a Coast Guard check point yesterday and they measured the boat to get the maximums. That being said, the sticker or placard is there for you as an easy way to determine whats safe and what isn't. It's more of a laywer requirement I think. Call it your "I told you" sticker from the manufacturer. You can feel free to reproduce it if you wish. It is not required on home built boats.

any decal printer can make them up for you.
Just supply the info and have them print it.

Here's what the Coast Guard sent me for making up your own label:

Thats pretty cool NYBo ... the actual CG model to use. Hmmm ... being a graphics person I may just try this.

Check with your state. Here in PA, you can provide them with some measurements and they'll make you a new one.

your computer has graphics and label making built in programs and Kinko's or staples have laminating machines. A little time and a buck--et voila' you have a color capacity plate!

Nice Frank, I like the acrylic cover. I will do this and the reason why I originally asked was that I didn't know if it had to be an "official USCG" type of label. Maybe there should be a post somewhere for people to get this info for their restorations. It would be good for others to put their capacity labels online to pool info from.

When I bought my Rinker used, it was missing the sticker. I called my local Rinker Dealer, gave them the Hull Number, and they shipped me one for five bucks.

MPII, lucky you, it seems that Grumman Boat was sold, bought, transferred ..... ??? and now they bought back the rights to make the canoes. I have a feeling they started anew and purged all of the old like I need to do with most of my junk at the house ... hahaha.
