Hi, I just bought a 1994 johnson 140hp v4. The ex owner use to premix his oil and disconnected the tube that connects to the bottom of the carb cover. when i connect it back how do i know if the oil injection is working? What are the symptons of running straight gas only if the oil injection doesnt work?

Thanks vince.

burning your engine up. on a 1994 there is a reason he was premixing. possibly failed oil side of pump, there are $350 to replace.

Nothing from the oil injection hooks to the bottom of the carb cover. If he unhooked the oil injection he would have removed the hose from the oil tank to the oil inlet side of the fuel / oil pump. He would have also unhooked the wires at the fuel / oil pump.

Get the hose ready to reconnect, purge the hose and hook it up. Continue to run oil in the gas and verify that the oil level drops in the tank. Once you know it's using oil and there are no alarms, you can run straight gas.

If the oil tank is still in the boat, drain it and clean it, do the normal service on it. Then add fresh oil.
