Just put a water separator filter on my boat. As I've never had one, and this is my first boat, how do I know when to change it?

Thanks

When i bought one for my boat, I was told once a year was fine, and if it needed a change earlier than that it would be obvious.... :)

Curious what it would do to be obvious? I've had water problems with gas in past, thus the water seperator. Now I wished I did a little more research as I wished U had got one with a place to drain it. Just saw that type on BassPro site. If the obvious is its inoperable, wouldn't want to be in the middle of lake when it happens.

I just meant "fuel-like symptoms" . :) You should always have a spare canister on board anyway.
