All three of my antennas (GPS, VHF x 2) are mounted on the hardtop with SS ratchet mounts. Gives me an effective anntenna height of almost 20'

If you move it to the gunnel you will be able to mount a bimini sometime in the future.

gunwale mounts aren't real good for fishing.

Do you have rod holders inside the windshield? Doesn't that interfere with your vision?
I have a CC with a bar over the windshield; I mounted it there. If I misjudge the height of a bridge it will fold back.
I also mounted it so it folds down across the windshield, so it is out of the way, and fits under my center console cover.

nice boat.

I don't think his mount is all that bad; in a small boat it's hard to find a perfect spot. If it's inthe way on the side, put it on the windshield rail and take off a rod holder. But you won't gain anything by moving it higher if that's your objective.
