....you have a fiberglass molded one peice floor?

im kinda curious, as i MAY have to redo the stringers and such.

on a boat with a "rolled" gunnel and plywood floors, its pretty self explanitory.

but, how do i redo the floor and stringer sytem of a boat with a molded fiberglass floor, where the floors and sides/walls/baitwells/front deck/anchor-locker are all one molded peice. i would like to keep this as all one peice if i can, but i dont even know if thats possible.

the boat is a 1984 sportcraft 20'2" center console with a beam of 7'6".

thanks in advance for any ideas.

mike

peace

Cut the innerliner floor out and leave a 5"-6" "shelf" around the edge (some boats have a taped off area where non skid starts and that can be the cut line too).Cut at a 45 to 60 degree bevel so the floor supports itself on the shelf edges when set back in. Glue (epoxy) & screw a 1x6 wood "cleat" under the shelf to help. Do the stringers while the floor is out.

Ayuh,.........

Either do as Bill says,......

Or,...... Separate the Molded Inner-Liner from the Hull,+ Fix it That Way............

It'll Look a lot Better, separating the liner from the hull..............
All Your Repairs will be Hidden......

I say seperate the liner from the hull. It'll be a pain, but you are looking at a pain either way, may as well make it so it still looks original-ish. Good luck...

myoutboards is it possible that you have a composite constuction hull without any stingers ? The hull may be filled with foam. If that is the case, trying to separate the liner from the hull would be next to impossible as the foam would keep it "glued together" so to speak.

I didn't think of it earlier but if the liner sits on the stringers it may be glued down. Many mfgs used epoxy paste for glue here and you won't be able to pull the deck off. Find or cut an inspection hole to see if this is the case. Sportcraft is still in business and may be able to tell you what the construction is too. CC Sportcrafts of that era were very solid.

sportcrafts last year of manufacture was 2003.

my CC is very flimsy, floors are soggy and the transom is dust.

they didnt do a very good job sealing the plywood.
