How does the bearing housing come out?

I'm trying to replace the seals in the LU of '89 200XP Evinrude. The gearcase around the bearing housing is all corroded and it won't budge. I've removed the 4 bolts in the gearcase housing. Is there something I'm missing or is it just stuck? I don't won't to break anything.

Just use a good puller and perhaps some heat where the O ring is on the carrier. They can be stubborn.

If the only seals you want to replace are the prop shaft seals, the dealer has a tool to R&R them without taking the carrier out. Takes about 15 minutes. You'll need the O rings under the 4 bolts when you replace them.

Thanks for the info. I've ordered the complete seal kit so I thought I would just go ahead and do them all while I'm into it.

Pulling the carrier is the tough one. Get it whipped and the rest are easy. Good luck!
