How far would you drive????

I have found a 1967 Starcraft Wildcat. Bad thing its 6+ hours away.

1967 Wildcat. (only year made, I think)
center length 14' 3"
beam 70"
center depth 36"
max hp 65
(that's nuts)

"Biggest little 14 foot boat you'll see anywhere" from the Starcraft brochure.

Interesting boat for fiberglass. It must fly w/ a 75 hp motor.

Thinking about it but the drive is the killer. Would be fun SC project.

In my opinion if it's a model you really want, at a good price, and in a condition that is acceptable to you then it's not too far. If it's just another boat, there has got to be something closer.

How far would I drive?

For a glasser?

Well, from here to my local dump I think it's only about 10 miles.

Uh, but I don't think that's what you had in mind:p:D

I realize its a glasser, but prospects are interesting, 65hp on a 14 foot boat. It is too far though. If it were closer, I'd probably bite. I have a spare 1967 Mercury 650 in my garage.

I decided that I'm just to cheap. Gas prices take the good deal out of it. My search for a winter project continues, however.

Ha Ha, I wouldn't drive to the end of the block. I can't remember the last time I had 6 free hours.

I drove from northern New York state to Rhode Island to pick up my 15-foot Starcraft, about 7 hours. Boat/motor/trailer was $250 (eBay special) and I parted out the Chrysler off it for about what I paid for the the rig, plus covered a good chunk of the trip expenses. The wife got a lobster dinner, too!

Which is why the wife got her lobster dinner! We've always liked the weekend "adventure" trips anyway, regardless of what the "goal" is...

Wildcat! 6 hours of driving ouch. I agree it would be a great project. I say why not. I need more details before giving a definite answer though.

Zach says yes. lol

Willow River MN, Near Duluth. 800+ miles round trip for me.

I think I might build a chopper motorcycle instead. I have not had one in over 30 years. Plus it would fit in the garage nicely, and so would my truck this winter.

Although.......That Wildcat would be a blast to drive w/ a big Merc on the wouldn't it!! Will see.... I may still might try my skills at a glasser. I suppose I could call the guy and make him a low ball offer. SOMEBODY PLEASE SHOOT ME NOW!!!!

Ooohhh!, I just did a quick check on my merc prop chart for my (spare) 650 merc.. The Wilddcat would easily be a 40+mph boat. Is that nuts or what?

Boat and chopper. You only go around once.;)

I'm thinking of trading in the Sea Scamp for a Fiberglass 14'. Too bad the Wildcat wasn't close to me. I think they're neat, like a G3. If you go glass I'll petition Jas to add your Glasser to the resto list.
