How fast is your 4 cyl i/o Bayliner?

I'm interested in 80's and 90's Bayliner cuddy cabins. I see that a lot of the 17-19 footers often came with the 4 cylinder Mercruiser setup.

I'd like to know what the cruising and top speeds of your boats are, with all your stuff and family. I've been told the 4 cylinder Mercruiser is underpowered, but the term underpowered is often subjective.

So whadda say?

My 89 Capri Cuddy with 125 hp 4cyl Force, loaded with 4 adults, cooler etc, cruises around 28 - 30 mph. WOT around 35.

Oh, your looking for I/O speeds. Mine is Outboard if that makes any difference to you.

Gregmsr, that info is just as valuable. I have been looking at both i/o and outboard powered boats for my project. Just seems that there are more i/o in the 19 ft.

I have an '05 192 with the 3.0L engine. WOT 43.3MPH on GPS. Cruise @ 30MPH. Fully loaded for overnight with coolers, extra gas 2 adults and 3 kids WOT 40.6. Fast enough for us and economical.

Now if I didn't have 5 footitis I would be OK.

I have 90 glasstream 19cc that seems a little heavy (leak damage and currently under repair) that I got to 40 with light load, 3L merc, my buddy says boat could get to 50 if propped differently. not so sure bout that

175 BR 2007 model runing 46,5 Mph with 135 Mercruiser i/o - i am changing the std prop as i am overrewing the engine with std. prop (5050 rpm) hope to reach app 50 mph with right prop

I've got a 85 bayliner trophy Cuddie cabin with hard top. It's a PIG ! 4 cylinder volvo motor 145hp/. with tabs I'm runnin about 28MPH. I LOVE IT THOUGH !!! sleeps 4. I'm not in a Hurry when I'm enjoying myself....

Joe, I'm usually not in a hurry on the water either. Getting there is half the fun! BTW, what is fuel consumption like with the volvo setup.

Mark I dunno yet...I've only been out 3 times...
But LIke I once heard in a Trophy ad with 4cyl setup " This thing almost makes gas" ! d

I purchased an1987 Bayliner 19' Capri Cuddy with a 3.0 OMC I/O this past Labor Day. I've only had it out a couple times, but I got to almost forty (according to the speedo) with a couple average sized people in the boat. Like a few before me, I'm also looking for a better prop. I'm not sure what's on it yet, I just used what came with it. What I DO know is that it runs nearly 5100 rpms at WOT, so I haven't pushed it that hard. I imagine that when I get the right prop it'll move along just fine. Currently, the boat is able to pull a wakeboarder up with three people riding in the boat, which is plenty of power for my use. We have had it top out at 42 using gps
