How fast will it go??

I got the boat with the Yamaha outdrive bought from beneath me today. But I found a very nice low hour 91 Caravelle?? Its 17.5' and has the very durable(that I have heard) 3.0 Mercruiser. How fast will this boat go with 2 people? I just need a boat to run 40-43 mph. Thats fine with me,will a 3.0 be reliable if its been kept up ok and a tuned up carb?? Thanks.Keith Dart373@aol.com

Cruise speed will be about 32 MPH is my guess. What did the owner tell you?

hey, keith. 3.0 litre mercruiser motors very reliable....around here we call em tractor motors...not very fast but always runnin boat that size maybe 35 on a good day.......
