I posted earlier about my e50esl not starting and I am thankfull for all of the help I rec'd! No I have not had enough free time to complete the repairs. It is now going to the shop for that very reason. But i am an Electrician by trade so wiring should not be much of an issue if I have a good diagram. since my motor runs via a remote control, would I be able to hook up to the wiring harness there for a tach, or do I have to connect it inside the motor hood and run wires out to the tach I install? I am researching and think I can find an oem tach that will work with this motor! thanks for your help!

I just EASILY added one today to my '73 johnson 85. The Tach needs a ground, a positive that's only hot when the ignition is on, and a sender wire. The sender connects to a gray wire in your control box.
