I have a '63 Mark Twain with 75 hp Johnson. I am looking into buying an '85 Evinrude 150 hp (that is the max hp on the plate of this boat). Can I put this motor on myself or will I need to get it done by a proffesional? The motor has all the linkage on it. So, I think I can manage to get it all hooked up myself. Perhaps you more seassoned boaters can advise me on this task. If I were to have it put on by a pro, does anyone know approximately how much it will cost.

You will need a lifting device- engine hoist or decent block and tackle, and a lifting ring that attaches to the top of the motor.

If you have it done elsewhere, 2 hours labor or less. More if you have them do all the connections and control mountings, etc.

What about the existing holes on the transom? Does anyone know if they will be the same on 150 hp rude as they are on the 75 hp Johnny.
