kinda a strange question but I just rebuilt a 1984 Evinrude 70 hp 49 cid because of a overheat. All is well the engine runs better than before the overheat due to mostly new parts and gaskets. I launched the boat today in 40 mph winds here in NJ. I only ran about 1 mile at mostly 1500 rmps thru a cannel with the current. I only maybe got to 2200 rpms prior to reaching the dock. The whole run took 10 minutes. I was checking under the hood to see everything was ok and and rested my palm of my hand on the fly wheel top it was very warm. I could keep my hand there but it would have been hot after more than 20 seconds, I would have to remove the hand or be burned but not like fire just hot.
Is This normal or is this a sign of bearings?????
steve
