how hot...

guys....one quick question.

How hot is too hot to take the boat out? I have a vacation day to take at work, and I took tomorrow off work to take the boat out.

The only problem is that it is supposed to be 95 degress with 30 mph wouth winds. I dont mind the winds because I can stay close to south shore. In the middle of the lake can be awfully brutal on my 18 footer. Anybody that has been to Okoboji knows how rough this lake is. It has 2-3 foot chop on a calm day (absolutey no winds). 10-15 mph winds causes horrible white caps.

We like to swim off the back end of the boat, so we just anchor some where out of the wind in calm water.

I think 95 is fine, just put on alot of sun screen.

Just drink lots of water and apply sunscreen. I don't think it has been less than 95 most days on the lake yet here in North Texas. I have been on lakes where the temp was north of 110.

Yup, plenty of water - no alcohol. ( it actually dehydrates you ).

If I did not boat in 90+ degree weather, half my boating season would be lost.:p:D:D

Ah, no shade!!!!! Couldn't stand that on my bowrider. The sun is scortching on the water, 95 isn't that bad. Add humidity with 95 and you have yourself one heck of a hot day, if you take a cooler full of water and swim you shouldnt have a problem...30mph winds doesnt sound that pleasent, though. I've never cancelled because of heat.

That is one thing I took care of this spring. I installed a nice Iboats.com store bimini top. This atleast takes care of the sun.

a bimini is a great thing to have. i agree that the heat isn't an issue. the wind would be a real concern though, along with afternoon t-storms.

95 is too hot. You should go to work and be miserable with the rest of us. :D

Just kidding. Put the top up and have fun. (and remember to have a cold one for me, I'll be working about 10 hours tomorrow and then volunteering for about 4 more hours).

Here in South Texas you are not going to find a summer day under 95 degrees. Well, we did have a rain front move through (first in months) last week that drop temps into the 80's.

We got our bimini (iBoats Sunbrella) and LOVE it - Man it really makes a difference.

We use the SPF70 spray and have not gotten burnt - we used a 30 earlier in the season - and my husband got a bad burn. Please take care of your skin - and drink plenty of water. Have fun!

We routinely boat north of 115 degrees . . . We can see 95 at midnight  I am dead serious, the Deserts of the Southwest are brutal this time of year. BTW, temp has nothing to do with Sunburn. Height of the sun's rays is the biggest issue. The closer you're out to June 21st (Northern Hemisphere) and Noon are what determine the rate of sunburn . . .

I added a bimini to my boat about three years ago. It's been worth much more than what I paid for it. On the Gulf Coast its good to get out of the sun after about 10 AM. It makes for a whole lot better day and you're not nearly as cooked by the time you make it back to the dock.

Re: how hot...

Just like others here, 95 in south Alabama is about 'normal' summer temp. We usually put our bimini up about half way through the day, it makes a big difference. I also make people start drinking water BEFORE we even leave the house. Remember, if your thirsty on a hot day your already behind in your "hydration". At least that is what they always taught us in the Army.:p
