How long before thermostat opens?

What is the normal time that the thermostat should take to open. Were talking about a 1959 35 H.P. Johnson.

Depending on the temperature of your body of water, it usually opens from 30 seconds to a minute or two.

It took about two minutes too open up but the water was a little cool. I was wondering if that was too long. Thanks.
