How long is Stabil-treated fuel "good"?

I just removed the bow mounted 12 gallon(I'm guessing) fuel tank from my boat to inspect/service it.

First question....The tank contains about 8 gallons of stabil treated gas, how long is it considered "good"?

Second: If I end up having to empty the tank of the gas(and I see sediment etc on the bottom)...how do I clean out the tank? Can I rinse it out with something?

I'm speaking from motorcycle experience here. I'm not sure how long the fuel would be good for but my bike sat for a couple years. I siphoned the gas out and gave it a good rinse with water. No issues. On another project I had some corrosion in the tank so I stripped and resealed the interior before using that tank again.

I hate to throw away $35 worth of gas, but I suspect that I'm probably better off not taking a chance.

You can always blend off the old gas into your mower, or car. Just don't put much in at a time. I always burn off my old gas in my JD tractor that I use to mow with.

There is a product, though I can't remember it's name, I used to clean out and than seal the inside of a steel motorcycle tank. It worked great so do some searching and maybe this is an option for you.

Maybe blending it with my lawn tractor gas is the best idea for it

does it still smell like gas, or does it have a hint of that "varnish" smell? if it smells at all like its gone beyond, id take it to the proper place, and get rid of it. i know gas isnt cheap (close to $5 gal here), but risking a problem in another engine to save a problem in your boat doesnt make a whole lotta sense.

It smells like normal gas. But I've decided it ain't worth the risk. I'll use it in the lawnmower

Um.... DON'T put acetone in gasoline. It's worse than ethanol on your fuel system....... Another Snake Oil story.......

What's the theory there?

I don't think I'd do that.
