I have 5 boats currently only 1 I have punched new. I am more likely to buy a 60 year old rather than a new one.

Since I started boating in the early 70's, just 2. One in 1975 and the second in 1985. Pretty sure, with the price of new boats being what they are, that's not going to happen again.

8 new, 2 used, but one was an antique so that didn't count.

I'd rather buy new and drill holes all over it to mount the accessories I like, rather than buy an old one that had been molested by previous owners.

Zip, zero, nada. Current boat recently purchased is a 20 year old Glastron. I can do most repairs and can't even come close to affording a new boat, and sure as hell don't want hefty payments.

Amen to that! A long time ago I forced myself to NEVER finance a toy. One of the best things I've ever done for myself.

Never have and never will buy new.

Too many people buy a boat only to find out how much time and expense actually goes into boating.

Lots of like new boats sitting on trailers that are rarely used, if at all. Just takes time to find them

I would love a brand new boat, but the premium for getting it new is outrageous. Maybe if I win the lottery...

09 between inflatable Sibs and Ribs and 05 outboards. Will never buy a traditional alum, wooden or fiberglass boat.

What's the point? I have had aluminum, wood, fiberglass and plastic, flat bottom, round bottom, deep V, Tri-hull, ad nauseum.

I have room for 1 more boat. So, why should I buy a new RIB or SIB to add to my fleet?

Got my first one last year 2019 fishing pontoon I'm older and love it fish fresh water only and still catching fish on it. 4 stroke outboard 90hp love it, got rod holders all around it plus a cutting board mounted to cut bait or chum but way harder to anchor than a boat in the wind will get it figured out thou. Maybe anchor in the bow and one at the stern. Will be my one and only new boat.

Would ask the same, what's the point picking on my answer. Was just answering what the OP's asked. Covid-19 excessive lockdown confinement definitely is altering people's answers, thats malo, muy malo, malisimo!!

Happy Boatiiiing

The OP question was re. "new". You went beyond the question saying what you didn't like and it was in effect a diatribe against other boat forms.

In my neighborhood rubber boats are not popular. The only ones I see are "dinghys" hanging sideways on the transoms of larger cruisers. The owners use them to take their dogs to the beach to ****. I don't even have a local dealer that sells them.

I am a person that is open to other boat forms. I used to hate jetskis until my son convinced his Mom and I to rent one on vacation. We are now confirmed jetskiers, currently on our 3rd brand new one.

My question was an honest one. If a rubber boat would give me pleasure I might just buy one. My question was merely an inquiry re. why I should buy one.

My current boat.
Looking to resolve 2footitus, 3footitus. Going to go new. I'm scared sh*tless about buying any boat that is <4 yrs years old that I don't personally know. As in none. I've seen many pretty boats sitting wide open in marina storage. Structural rot. And I've seen plenty of hoopleheads beating a newer boat. New for me.
