I know a guy that has five boats. I think five is to many. I have one. Two would be nice.

Re: How many boats?

I have two...but one doesn't count. It has the 470 engine, and isn't 'ready for prime time'!

If you count PWC's...I am up to three!

Happy boating!

Re: How many boats?

I'd like to have two... my current skinny water boat plus something bigger to run offshore in the Gulf.

Re: How many boats?

I currently have two boats. One is at the camp for the little lake there and the other is at home so we can drop it in the Hudson River 10 minutes away if we like...

Re: How many boats?

I voted 6+.
Why? Because I'm content with my boating situation now.
I currently have a cabin cruiser (for comfort), a Jon boat (for fishing), a PWC (to satisfy my 'need for speed'), and 3 kayaks, each one serving a different purpose.
Yeah, yeah I know: 'You can only use one at a time!!'
Well in my case, we live 45 minutes from the Bay, so we often use the big boat as our weekend condo. We always have at least 1 kayak onboard, and frequently trailer the PWC or Jon boat and keep 'em tied up in our slip for use at any time. BTW- I'm not a rich guy; all the boats are WELL used, but properly maintained.
All I can say is that this setup works well for us.

EDIT: OMG I forgot the sailboat! I have an old, ratty AMF Minifish. Haven't used it in quite a while but it's a boat.....so that's 7 for me!
WAIT! Should I count the 2 R/C boats? They have gas engines.....:D

I voted 2...One small boat that is easy to tow and fish out of with one person.
The other would be a large cabin cruiser i could stay on most of the time..:)

Re: How many boats?

If you count the aluminum 14 footer, I have 4. I would like to have 2-- the big family boat and the fishing boat I just bought. But I am a compulsive buyer. I also have 7 cars and 4 houses and not enough time to work on/maintain most of my toys. More money than brains I guess; somebody stop me before I buy something else. :p

Re: How many boats?

1 deck boat
1 sailboat (sunfish style)
1 surf kayak
2 play kayaks
1 canoe (all mine)
2 canoes (babysitting, I don't think the will EVER go home)

Wouldn't mind a PWC!

Re: How many boats?

More boats isn't always a good thing. I have 6 right now but am looking to pick up a couple more. I can tell that owning 6 boats has been close to a fulltime jobs the past couple weeks. I have them with hopes of selling them for a decent profit next year. Without that in mind you would be crazy owning that many for personal use. It may make since if they are kayaks and what not as mentioned above but finding storage and working on 6 gas burners is no fun.

Re: How many boats?

1-pontoon (new)
1-pontoon (for sale)
1-tinny for fishing
1- canoe
2- plastic kayaks

Reasonable would be one toon and one tinny.

I also have a 60 hp, 40 hp, 30 hp, 25 hp, 10 hp, 2.5 hp,and 2 electrics. Don't ask and don't tell my wife.

Re: How many boats?

3 for me.

1- 30-33' Express Cruiser
1- 23-25' Runabout (Cobalt 242WSS)
1- 20-21' Bass Boat

Also, I don't consider a PWC to be a boat (not arguing definition, just the utility).

1 or 2 Kawasaki 260X's.

This covers me for the weekend partying/camping out on the lake, water sports and running around, and getting into the shallows to fight the big lunker.

Re: How many boats?

Someone asked this before and I added up all the small boats I have or share with others, including at a fish/hunt club, and came up with about 164 feet of boat, ranging from 12' to 21'. can't have too many. Now, how many motors run...that's another question!
Big Northeaster coming in--hope it doesn't shorten the list!

One boat.
One wife.
Easier to maintain one of each!

Re: How many boats?

A few years back we had 5 and no it was not too many.

The race boat, the hi-performance boat (only room for one in the race boat), the ski boat, the flats boat and the bay boat.
