How many check valves in 70s model rectangle fuel pump ?

Rebuilt fuel pump on 4hp and cannot get fuel to plug, this fuel pump is the small rectangle one. Mine has two of the little circle check valves in it. The diagrams only show
one. If this is correct this may be my problem i guess. If it has only one which hole the top or bottom one does it go in and which way does it face.

The diagrams I am looking at show the one valve but if you read the quantity next to the item number, you will see that they require two.

What is your s/n.
