I was at my local marina, I promised the kids a tube to go tubing, and we were checking out the tubes in the parts and accesory dept. While we were looking a guy came in a said he needed a new buzzer for his boat. The counter guy asked him what kind of motor and boat, well it ended up being a Force 85 on a maxium boat. Travis the parts guy looked up and grinned and said if you have a Force question ask him. I laughed and the guy told me he needed a new buzzer. I asked him what made him think his buzzer was bad. He told me that it buzzs all the time and either the sender was bad or the buzzer was. I looked at him and asked when was the last time he replaced his impeller, he gave me that look. Then asked what the impeller has to do with an electric buzzer. I explained it to him.

I thought I would share that because I found it humorous.

That's funny. I was like that with my Fiat in school, when questions start getting reffered to you in the parts store, it is not a good sign, lol. Everyone joked that I spent more time under the hood (rear) then driving, but man that thing idled at 70 mph.

& when he asks why the motor won't start, you can ask when was the last time he put gas in the tank. he may ask what gas has to do w/ starting the motor? just thought i'd prepare you....!

Actually this parts guy hates the fact I have a Force motor and wont take his advise and repower. He hates I search the seira and mercury books for cross over parts LOL. If you say Force to him he tells you other words begin with "F" also and has one letter less. He hates Force motors and hates looking for parts for one. I think he did that just to be him.

Re: How many have heard this before?

RRitt wrote a terrific reply to a thread about a year ago regarding shops NOT liking Force too much. Most of us Force owners buy parts cheap & do the work ourselves. That may not sit too well w/ shops that depend on selling parts at retail cost and/or working on motors at about 65 bucks an hour.

This may have nothing to do w/ why this guy doesn't like Force, maybe he just doesn't! But it makes perfect sense to me seeing these motors have older & easier to work on technology than newer motors that would cost both arms & legs to get repaired or even just maintained. I know I couldn't afford it. So thanks to my pretty old, cheap to maintain, & Very Dependable 85hp keeping me on the water year after year.

worth while to look up that reply. wonderful information.
