How many tubes pulled at once?

I was just wondering how many tubes people have pulled at once?? I'm pulling tow 60" tubes right now and it is way more fun than just one!!! Now i'm thinking about getting a third. I only have one person on each one at a time. I was just curious how many others have pulled. My buddy has pulled four at one time...i think that almost a lil too much but thought 3 might be some fun. I only let experienced people ride when I have two out there.

My second question is whether the hook on my transom will hold or weaken the fiberglass?

Thanks guys,
Doogie

The hook on your transom has got to be strongly secured into or through the transom wood itself, or you probably would have already lost that hook by pulling two tubes... so you shouldn't have anything to worry about with that.

Only suggestion I have it to make certain that you're using the same length rope for each tube.

One is enough for me. I have seen some very scary near misses with multiple tubes.
One other thing.....dont do what I saw last weekend.
3 tubes, one rider falls and the driver carries on with the other 2 still going for a few minutes before going to recover his faller. Left them completely exposed. I actually went over to protect the fallen child till he decided to come back.
I cant imagine what his logic was. He told me when I challenged him about it that "It's not very busy today"
I will not write what I told him for fear of getting banned from the forum.
Ken.

So does anyone have a great way to hook them all together?? I have been using a short peice of rope...tied it into a loop...hooked one end thru the tow hook then put the tube ropes over it and then ran the other end thru the tow hook. Anyone have any better ways?

thanks,
Doogie

Re: How many tubes pulled at once?

We have seen this done a good number of times but I just can't bring myself to do it. Accidents can happen no matter what you are doing, but have 2 tubes on at once for me just means to many things going on at one time for me to be certain of the tubers safety.
Now I am pulling kids 16 and under most of the time, maybe if the riders were older I might think about it again.

Only my 2 cents

I think one multiple rider towable is better than many "strung together" tubes. A lot safer anyway.
It does not matter how much you stress your thoughts and fears of safety, you will always get the folk that "know better"
Some of them are the ones you read about in threads entitled "Another boating tragedy" or similar.
Ignorance is bliss (until it's to late)
Just my humble opinion though.
