How much compression is too much?

Does any of you veterans out there know the max compression that one can have with 87 octane and good TCW3 oil. Is there a "best" mixture to use with higher compression?

Howdy Sparkroost.

Your question is too open.

I know of no stock 2 stroke that requires higher than 87 octane fuel.

Care to tell us more about what you have in mind?

Re: How much compression is too much?

My problem is that I listen to too many people. I was told that I didn't want to go past 150 cylinder psi due to pre-ignition. I want to run max advance possible(with a little margin for poor fuel), but I don't want to blow it up. So... I am chicken. I have been running 89 @ 50:1. I recently checked my compression and am getting 160psi now. I have only ran 14 gallons through her. First 10 at 24:1 and the other 4 at 50:1. I can't hear pre-ignition, so I am looking for someone with experience on how far I can "push her" without blowing it up.

What do you think?
