Never had a shop do one, but I would imagine that they would ding you for a couple hours labour plus parts.

Just a thought, but a factory Service Manual would be cheaper, then an hour or two out of a saturday morning. Better than doing chores around the house isnt it?? lol Check www.ebay.com, or right here on iboats for a factory reprint manual. The following may help as well. Good luck.

Re: How much did it cost to replace your water pump?

Well I already bought the manual, thats why I'm starting to think of not doing it.

My concern is the special O-ring insertion tool I'm going to need. along with all the different types of lubricants, and any other tools.

I already ordered the water pump rebuild kit.

But ill still be needing a trok wrench, at what $50? Then the 30 different type of lubes ill need at another $50. plus gaskets, etc etc etc...

if they charge me $200 labor (already bought the parts) I think It'll only wind up cosing me $100 after the tools and lubes ill need

man you dont need the insertion tube
or special lubes buy a complete kit its easyer than they make it sound
did mine in 40 minutes ,sierra pump kits work fine
all ya need is some permatex aviation or 300 from auto parts store for wear plate there is one oring in between cup and impellar houseing one under impellar one funny skinny one for the houseing and if ya have a groove
at top of drive shaft one goes there after ya do it you will be glad ya didnt spend the 200 but if you are not mech inclined or have two left hands
you may want to spend the money .
good luck post if ya have probs

I agree with Benny, not as bad as you may think.

Get a can of BRP Gasket Sealing Compound with a brush built into the lid, you can also use it for t stat gaskets,etc... I would also get some marine grease though, to grease the splines of the drive shaft while the lu is down. I also remove my prop while doing this so that I can grease the prop splines as well as remove any fishing line that may have wrapped around the prop shaft. Run some compressed air or the garden hose up the water line to flush any debris, and clean out the water intake area. Be careful that the rubber grommet on top of the impeller housing does not get shoved into the housing during reinstallation.

Just little things that will help. Let us know what you decide.
