Here is the story i need to put a new outboard on my boat. I found a 1990 Evinrude 2 stroke outboard gas motor that is 50hp. It has been taken off a tracker. I need to find out how much it weighs as i dont want to go over weight. My boat is rated for a 55hp. I just need estimates. Thanks for the help in advance.

Nadaguides.com lists motor weights under the boat section.

No worries; about 200 lbs and is less than a 55.
The weight of the outboard is a secondary consideration.

Thanks both of you guys now im going to go look at it. The guy only wants 700 and claims it runs great. I wil give it a good check over. and we will see. Is there something i should look at especially close?

I'm looking into buy a 50hp,60hp Johnson too.. for my tracker! :D...yea i'd check the compression with a compression tester..make sure you don't hear any weird sounds grinding etc. check lower unit oil for emulsification and any metal particles...make sure she shifts smoothly and idles smoothly.. have it run a bit..700 sounds like a great deal to me. i cant touch a motor in that year and hp for less then 1300$ hope all goes well

compression readings within 10% of each other is great. better if even. check with specs on that motor on the factory compression. i bought a 25hp with 120/120 compression and that was factory...so it was a nice barely used motor..
