How much grease in gimbal?

The owner's manual for my 5.7L Mercruiser Alpha One recommends lubricating the gimbal bearings with a grease gun every 100 hours. Now, the very basic question......how much? Couple of pumps? Until grease comes out? Is there a rule of thumb?

Until you see grease come out...then you know it's got enough...but I wipe the excess so it doesn't drop in the lake.
