how much HP can i handle?

my plate is missing from the transom, i hae a 16.5 foot CC by bonitio boats, now out of business, probably cause they suck, but thats another story.<br /><br />boat is 16'5" lonmg, 72" wide, dry weight 650lbs<br />i have had 65hp suzuki, 50hp, evinrude, and 85 hp johnson.... how much is safe, i want to upgrade to a new suzuki 4 stroke,( or at least any 4 stroke) but they are way heavy... anybody got any similar rigs, or any ideas?<br /><br />thanks

Hi Mike<br />I have an old 16'5'" Wellcraft Airslot that I'm sure weighs a little more than your cc, and I have a Johnny 90 bolted on back.<br />It's rated for up to 120.<br />Hope this helps.<br /><br />Dave
