how much hp do i need?

Realizing that more is probably better......I have a 16 ft polarcraft jon that i need to put an engine on.<br />I have an older 9.5hp evinrude that runs like new. The boat is rated for 25 hp motor. Can I get by one season with the 9.5 or should I buy a new 25?

That is wierd, I have a 14ft PolarKraft and it is rated for a 25hp also. I turned it into a Hydrilla Gorilla boat, and the 25 will still plane it. Im happy. Had a 9.5 on my other boat and sometimes use it on this boat, on the lakes with hp restrictions. Moves around but not very fast.
