I was going to list my 1984 Force 85 Hp on craigslist and was wondering how much I should be asking. The motor is complete with tilt trim and controls. Compression is about 140/140/140. New impeller and all new gaskets, I had to replace a piston last year. It does have an electrical issue, won't fire on all 3 cylinders??? I also have a spare parts motor with all the parts except tilt trim.

The price is a bargain between two it will be as much as you can get. Try to guess how much you can get out of the buyer.

I was thinking $850 for both and if I don't get any offers I might part them out.

Speaking frankly (Sometimes I'm vulgar, somtimes I'm nasty, but mostly I'm Frank) You might get what you want if the one was running perfectly. It will be exteremely difficult to get 850 for both engines in that condition, even though it is only an electrical problem. You would need to find an extremely motivated buyer.

Most engines of that age and in that condition go for a couple of hundred. YES! You would probably do better by parting them out and selling on the auctions. Sell the non-usable or non-salable items (like the midleg--no one needs them) as aluminum scrap. Remove all the steel first.

However, you still might do better selling them over at The Chrysler Crew. Google The Chrysler Crew, scroll dowm to Chrysler Marine Website, click on it, join and scroll down to the classified section.

Thanks again Frank. I thought you might have a good idea of the value.
