I got a '82 15 HP Johnson Outboard motor. I'm interested in selling it so I'm wondering how much should I ask for it? It does have a hard problem going into reverse but overall, its in good condition. Also with the motor, I'm selling a '99 Quicksilver 380 inflatable with oars, 5 gallon gas tank and trailer with a toolbox bolted on the trailer. I was thinking $2,000 for everything. Is that a good price?

Reverse? We don't need no stinking Reverse. ;)

Sounds like a fair asking price to me. Concentrate on the Yachting crowd. Or small tow-vehicle crowd.:)

Let's put this in Non-Repair Outboard. "(not engine topics)" means no engine topics.

$2000 good asking price, be prepared to get a $1500 offer.

Re: How much outboard Johnson 15 HP motor worth?

I just sold a 1981 Johnson 15 hp for $700CDN (I think that would be about $600US). They range in price up here from $600-850 less if it has problems or is ugly. The one I sold was in excellent mechanical shape with high compression (115-118). Had to repaint the lower because it was pitted from sitting in the water with no anode.

Trouble going into reverse would be a flag for me. If I was buying it I'd offer what I thought it would be worth (on the low end) in good working condition and then subtract the price of a used lower unit and impeller.

However, as a package $2000US sounds ok to me. Similar packages sell for about $3000CDN around here.
