1975 Mark Twain 165 hp i/o MErcruiser. <br />I was winterizing my boat for the first time yesterday. I went ahead and drained the outdrive fluid but realized that my outdrive has screws are not like my old ones. The lower screw is where it is supposed to be at (all the way at the bottom). BUt my vent screw is all the way towards the top. On the ribbed part right below the four upper unit bolts bolts. ON my old out drive this vent screw was right below the cavitation plate. So now I am not sure how much fluid to use and how to tell when it is full. PLease help

Get pump kit attach to bottom port and pump in oil until it comes out the top port and replace screws. Make sure "O" rings are on the screws before install. That's it.

Water surge, the bottom hole is the fill and the top is the vent.Using the pump attachment with the drive upright, pump it through the bottom until it oozes out the top vent. Before you start, clean any leftover gasket out of the hole and make sure you use new gaskets.Tighten the top vent first and then remove the pump and screw in the bottom as quick as you can.
